Definition of psychotherapy

Psychotherapy aims treating psychicological disorders, as defined by the WHO, as well as prevention and maintenance of health.

According to the therapeutic objectives which are pursued, psychotherapy leads to alteration by means of procedures and empirical founded methods. In order to achieve this, psychotherapy bases itself on theories of pathology and theories of treatment.

Psychotherapy is founded on ethical principles. Recognized measures guarantee a quality standard.
